This virtual book study will meet via Zoom from 4:00-5:00 on June 11, 18, 25, and July 2, 9, and 16. If you can't make a session, no worries! A recording will be posted for you to watch and respond to. Or, a time can be arranged for you to meet with Tanya individually or in a small group.
Now, more than ever, is the right time to reflect upon our learning and grading practices. Competency-Based Education by Rose L. Colby (2019) shows educators a new model for anytime, anywhere education and provides tools and curriculum resources for redesigning the traditional K–12 school system. Join us as we learn how to make performance tasks, individual learning plans, and grading systems to meet the needs and interests of all students.
Participants will need to purchase the book, the IBSN is 978-1682531006. At the end of the course, participants earning college credit will write a summary/action plan.
Member Workshop Fee: $125 for all meetings
Non Member Workshop Fee: $200 for all meetings
Teachers can earn 6 PDC points for attending the workshop, or 20 PDC points for completing the outside assignment.
One hour of graduate credit can be earned through MidAmerica Nazarene University for an additional $90 payable to MNU. Outside assignment is required for college credit.
Cancellations must be received 48 hours in advance or fees will be due; same district substitutions are allowed. If Orion is not notified of a cancellation, the district is still responsible for the enrollment fee. We understand that there can be emergencies and we will work with those on an individual basis once we have been contacted in a timely manner.
