Description

If you have taken time off from the teaching profession, or if you are a brand new teacher, come learn about the basics of literacy education through the book, Fundamentals of Literacy Instruction and Assessment Pre-K Through 6, Second Edition. We will dig into the science of teaching reading and utilize strategies that can be implemented in the classroom right away. This book study will give you the knowledge to teach reading confidently and know how to implement structured literacy in the classroom.

This book study will be virtual through Zoom, and will consist of one hour sessions on Tuesdays: June 8, June 15, June 22, June 29, July 6 and July 13 from 4:00pm - 5:00pm.

Cost

Member Workshop Fee: $125 for all meetings
Non-member Workshop Fee: $200 for all meetings

One hour of graduate credit can be earned through MidAmerica Nazarene University for an additional $90 payable to MNU. Outside assignment is required for the college credit.  

Cancellations must be received 48 hours in advance or fees will be due; same district substitutions are allowed. If Orion is not notified of a cancellation, the district is still responsible for the enrollment fee. We understand that there can be emergencies and we will work with those on an individual basis once we have been contacted in a timely manner.
