Description

This is a virtual book study that will meet from 4:00-5:00 PM via Zoom on June 8, 15, 22, and July 6, 13, and 20. If you can't make a session, don't worry! Each session will be recorded and posted for you to watch so you can formulate a response. In addition, a time can be arranged for you to meet with Heather individually or in a small group.

In traditional education systems, students are required to limit their questions and compliantly follow a curriculum chosen and sequenced by others.  However, as educators, our job is to provide opportunities for our students to be innovative and creative critical thinkers which will allow them to be successful in the future.  In The Innovator's Mindset, George Couros encourages teachers and administrators to empower their learners to wonder, to explore—and to become forward-thinking leaders.  If we want innovative students, we need innovative educators. In other words, innovation begins with you.

Participants will need to purchase the book, the IBSN is 978-0986155499. A final reflection/application paper will be due at the end of the study for those participants seeking 1 hour of college credit.  Teachers can earn 6 PDC points for attending the online sessions or 20 PDC points for completing all outside assignments.
