Description

David Kilpatrick has long been a leader in the research base for phonemic awareness. In his book, Equipped for Reading Success, he has put this research into an easy-to-use practical phonemic awareness manual. We will explore the manual, check the research and be ready to utilize the activities and interventions.

This book study will be virtual through Zoom, and will consist of one hour sessions held on Tuesdays from June 7 through July 12. Participants can also apply for one hour of college credit.

Learners will select the activities that they plan to implement in their classrooms at the end of each chapter to prepare for our weekly online discussion on Wednesdays. At the end of the class, learners will be required to write a final reflection paper and how they will implement the strategies.

Participants will need to purchase the book, Equipped for Reading Success by David Kilpatrick, and have access to a computer/network capable of running Zoom meetings. The ISBN number is 978-0964690363.
