About Belle Plaine USD 357
~550Total students3Closely located campuses25 miSouth of WichitaSumnerCounty, KansasBelle Plaine offers a tight-knit, rural district lifestyle without the geographic isolation common in Kansas. Located in Sumner County, it sits just 25 miles south of Wichita. A superintendent can enjoy the peaceful, supportive environment of a small town while living right next door to the dining, culture, and airport access of the state’s largest metro area.
Belle Plaine has an exceptionally robust focus on career readiness. The high school frequently honors a high percentage of CTE students who complete advanced pathways, maintain top GPAs, and demonstrate hands-on community leadership.
With roughly 550 total students across three closely located campuses, a superintendent has the rare ability to build direct, authentic relationships with staff, families, and civic leaders. The community takes immense visible pride in its schools—from celebrating individual educators (such as recent state Affiliate Teachers of the Year) to launching massive social media engagement campaigns for student “Senior Spotlights”.
Extracurricular activities include a full offering of sports including football, cross country, volleyball, wrestling, basketball, baseball, softball, and track. Non-athletic activities include cheerleading, forensics, scholars bowl, band, vocal, and FFA.
The district sets high standards for its students and has programs in place to help ALL students succeed.
