Micaela is new for the 2018-2019 school year bringing 20 years of experience in education. Micaela grew up bilingual attending school through the Bilingual Education system of the ‘80s. She graduated from Wichita East, Kansas State University, and Fort Hays State University. She has four grown sons and can be found with her husband either at the gun range or kayaking in her free time. When not doing those activities, she is making pocket letters and collecting postcards from around the world through Postcrossing.

Sherry is the Project Coordinator and teacher at Orion Diploma Completion Center-Winfield. She has a degree from Wichita State University and has always worked in the education field. Sherry believes she is fortunate to always have had a job she loves working with students of all ages. Her goal is to help you successfully earn your high school diploma!

Glenna is a Virtual Learning Coach for Orion Education and Training at the NE Wichita Diploma Completion site. Currently, she enjoys the opportunity to assist staff and to serve adult as well as high school students in their learning endeavors.  

Glenna received her BA in Elementary Education and Music Education from Tabor College.   

Her experiences as an educator include the opportunity to teach in Wichita, Kansas; Burlington, New Jersey; Asuncion, Paraguay SA; Piti, Guam; and Baguio City, Philippines.  

Glenna enjoys volunteering at Believer’s Tabernacle as a preschool teacher and the “Dream Again” clothing ministry. Throughout the year, Glenna spends time visiting and helping several senior citizens, gardening, and walking in Mulvane or Waco. Taking her parents on trips to see family is one of her favorite activities in the summer.

Tori, resident tech nerd and office troublemaker, began working at Orion in 2005. She attended Southwestern College where she earned bachelor’s degrees in Computer Operations Technology and in Human Resource Development.

In her tenure at Orion, Tori has taken on several duties including tech coaching, grant writing, and teaching online professional development courses. Tori currently spends a majority of her time at Orion managing E-Rate for 18 school districts and 16 private schools, while also providing tech support to anyone who needs it. 

When she isn’t working, Tori is busy living the mom life at basketball and volleyball games, dance competitions, and at her kids’ school activities.

Audra is the Distance Learning Director for the Orion Distance Learning Network. Audra works with school districts that use a variety of videoconferencing platforms such as Cloud-based clients and legacy H.323 equipment. She coordinates classes over synchronous video with high schools, local colleges, and other networks in the state. Audra also works with districts to implement the many other uses of videoconferencing in schools. Audra enjoys working with distance learning and the opportunities it provides to meet and learn from other professionals around the world!

Jena is the Corporate Solutions Consultant at Orion. Her office is located at Orion Wichita’s Diploma Completion Program, where her skills as a mentor have greatly enhanced services to adult students who attend there. Additionally, her computer programming knowledge has streamlined processes, integrated new systems of operation, and created online opportunities for students to enroll and begin their educational journey. Jena earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas, two master’s degrees from Webster University — an MBA and an MA in Human Resources Development and her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University where her research topic focused on student soft skills in education and the workplace. 

She lived in North Carolina for five years, where she worked at a community college, integrating soft skills curriculum into both college classrooms and local high schools. She has presented at state conferences regarding Soft Skills integration into the classroom and the effects that this has on student success. Jena has been a human resources manager, a training and development specialist, an employee trainer in the financial industry, and is currently an adjunct professor at several colleges. Jena enjoys spending time with family, and she spends the weekends and many weeknights watching her daughter, Avery, play soccer.

Prism is the Course Monitor of the 9-12 STAR students at the Wichita NE site. She assists the students with their learning, self-management, and individual goal setting and achieving. She has a Bachelor of Science in Technology Education from Pittsburg State University with a minor in Graphic Design. Officially a millennial, she is the technology guru for her site, a media helper, and a Level 1 Certified Google Educator. 

Originally from Idaho, then South East Kansas, she is now a proud Wichitan with a husband and two young children.

Suzanne is the Teacher/Virtual Course Monitor for Orion’s STAR program in Rose Hill. In her eighth year in the alternative classroom, Suzanne formerly was a paraprofessional in the Maize and Goddard school districts. She also spent more than a decade reporting on education at a daily newspaper in Missouri. Suzanne earned a bachelor’s degree in English/journalism from Northwest Missouri State University.

Suzanne has two sons: Brandon, an outdoor educator with a non-profit in Colorado, and Scott, a sophomore math/physics major at Washington University in St. Louis. She enjoys traveling to visit her sons, going to a coffee shop with a good book, and researching her genealogy.

Eva works at the Orion Wichita South-Central site. Her primary role is as the Administrative Assistant, where her gifts of helpfulness and organization keep everything running smoothly. She is also a Teaching Assistant, supporting both ESOL and Odysseyware teachers. She is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, meeting the needs of both English speaking and Spanish speaking students. Eva is a graduate of Wichita West High School, where she was in the AVID program, and a student at Wichita State University, where she is pursuing a degree in Health Services Management and Community Development. Eva’s favorite pastime is spending time with family, especially her beautiful nephew, Max.

Martha has enjoyed teaching in Wichita schools for 26 years, working with students from Kindergarten to adults. Martha’s passion for 21 years has been teaching ESOL students of all ages to develop their listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Currently, Mrs. Dostert is teaching classes on Tuesday and Thursday night at the Orion Wichita South Central site. 

After attending Kansas Newman and WSU for undergraduate courses, Martha received her master’s degree from WSU in 1999. Martha and her husband Larry enjoy exercising, reading, gardening, traveling across the country, and spending time with their five children and seven grandchildren.

She is a certified math teacher via Washburn University and an Instructional Design & Technology major through Emporia State University. Sarah was born and raised on a dairy farm in northern Pennsylvania, loves taking road trips around the country in her spare time, and hates fake pockets.

Shannon is an Education Consultant at Orion Education and Training. Her primary role at Orion is to provide instructional technology support for districts. She also facilitates the New Teacher Mentoring Program and enjoys serving as a mentor for several new-to-profession teachers.

Shannon earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education at Kansas State University, with a minor in Music. Her master’s degree was earned at Wichita State University in Curriculum and Instruction, with a Library Science Endorsement. She is currently pursuing her EdD in Instructional Design and Performance Technology at Baker University.

In her free time, Shannon enjoys volunteering and participating in community events. She is a crafty lady and schedules plenty of time to play with glitter and scissors. Shannon is the momma to two fur babies, Kizmett and Tater Tot.

DeAnne serves as an education consultant, focusing on classroom management, instruction, school improvement, crisis planning, state curriculum standards, evaluations, and trauma sensitivity, among many others. DeAnne has her bachelor's degree from Southwestern College in Kansas in education and language arts. She has a master’s degree in language arts from Fort Hays State University, along with her licenses for building and district administration.  

DeAnne is a nationally recognized trainer for Lions Quest, a research-based social and emotional character development program. She was recently inducted into the Educator's Hall of Fame at Southwestern College, has been recognized by KASCD for her quality professional development, and has served on several state-level committees for curriculum, character development, and school improvement.
